Betrayal & Forgiveness

I have been sitting here outside this morning reading, writing, worshipping.
I opened my journal to begin writing, then got sidetracked by the beautiful, crashing waves.
The wind wildly blew my journal pages to a random entry. I was writing my notes and thoughts from a podcast I had been listening to at the time about betrayal and forgiveness. I remember at that time wanting to do everything in my power not to be bitter or hold a place of hurt in my heart or whatever else may have come from a situation. I didn’t realize how much I resonated and used the insight at hand from that point moving forward.
I will share my journal entry below, the broken set of thoughts/wisdom/notes from that time, maybe they could be helpful or encouraging:
She just said I do not need to be angry at the person but at the spirit/evil that is making them do xyz, reminds me of Ephesians 6, we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places, against cosmic powers.
The enemy is so crafty. He goes after our weaknesses. We betray Jesus every day because of the evil spirits all over the world, because of compromise, the craftiness of Satan. We fight a spiritual battle all day, every day.
Betrayals - wounds versus scars — write more about this at some point. So. Good.
Wounds are open, scars are healed wounds.
Forgiveness is unselfish love
Sometimes people cannot face themselves, so how could they face you?
Forgiveness is never really for the other, but for you, for healing, for the wound to turn scar.
God won’t put me through betrayal I cannot handle.
Quote they read:
The devil whispered in your ear, “You are not strong enough to withstand the storm.”
Today, you whisper back, “In Christ Jesus, I am the storm. What you sent to break me, God is using to make me more like Jesus.”
Everything I’ve been through, Jesus has too. He understands.
Betrayal? 12 disciples betrayed Jesus
Who am I not to forgive, when Christ forgave us all?
He uses the mess that messed over me to take me to my destiny.
God is a gentleman, we need to invite him into our lives.
Rejection is God’s redirection. I let ______ go. _____ is not mine. God, ____ is yours. You direct ____. You direct me. I trust you.
“God’s portion for me is never to be mistreated by a man. Never to be walked out on, never to be abandoned. True masculinity is staying, is being the pillar, strong, secure. They don’t run. So, if someone does that to you, it’s within themselves.“
I want to rely on your will, Lord, over my feelings.
“Not as I will, but as you will“
I know, I feel, I ______… God knows better.
I am called to speak life into my future partner’s spirit.
Control is in kindness, calmness, truth, patience - control in femininity
Scripture:
Ephesians 3:14-19 ~ For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on Earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith - that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be killed with all the fullness of God.”
Surpassed knowledge, love, depth by your Spirit, Lord, thank you.
Romans 12:9-21 ‘Marks of the true Christian‘
God, you are love, fervent, hopeful, patient, constant in prayer, hospitable, blessing persecutors, rejoicing/weeping with those who rejoice/weep, harmonious, wise in God’s sight, honorable, not vengeful, overcoming evil with good. It is not as I do, but as you do, as you are, Lord.
A prayer:
Lord, thank you. Thank you for today, for the breath inside our lungs, for air to breathe, for our bodies to function the way we do, for giving us the ability to think and feel so deeply, so complex. Thank you that you are simple and light, and your plan is divine. Thank you that your knowledge surpasses our understanding. Thank you that you are peace and comfort and truth and all things good. Thank you that we bear an abundance of the Fruit of your Spirit as we pursue you. Thank you for ultimate victory and power. I invite you into my life, I pray your spirit into _____’s, and I welcome and desire and desperately need your divine intervention. In my heart, mind, and soul.
Thank you that this feels big, but you see it as just another little piece of our journey with you.
Divinity, Lord. Thank you. Amen.
