Poem on the Roof

June 11, 2024

Another neat journal entry I found. Cool to reflect on. Sophomore year preseason! What a time.

From August 17, 2022

Sitting on the roof of Dupont. Sitting in his presence. Laying, seeing the cotton balls in the sky turn to a wispy glaze. Didn’t want to journal. Tired. Then the Lord gave me the idea to come and simply sit on the roof. Enjoy His creation.

Now here we are.

A silly little poem, a song:

Jesus, I need you

You’re the reason that I’m here.

When I need comfort,

You promise that you’re near.

You’re right here next to me

In my heart and in my soul.

I believe that you’ll guide me

Even when I grow old.

Jesus I love you

You’re my power and my strength.

My satisfaction,

Found in simplicity.

I am your daughter

My identity is firm

In your foundation,

Acceptance I never have to earn.

Jesus I thank you

New blessings every day

Oh, Lord, I need you,

With my life, in every way.

You restore the joy in my heart, Lord. Thank you.

I thought I needed to be alone but I simply needed time with You, surrounded by your great creation.

I’m tired, physically. Rejuvenate me, Lord! My body aches. Calves, Right shoulder/neck/upper bicep, jaw, ears… heal me, Lord! Restore my body and those of my teammates so that we may enjoy the fruits we bear this weekend after the work we’ve been putting in. Reap what we sow!
